I am the founder/owner of College Dreams Consulting. I decided to pursue a certificate in college counseling for several reasons. As reflected in my own Career Interest Profile results, I'm drawn almost equally to creative expression and detail-oriented data analysis. Creating custom college lists for students perfectly pairs my affinity for organizing data with my skill in creatively tailoring that data for each student's unique circumstances and priorities. Helping students find their best college options from the standpoint of academics, affordability, and authentic opportunities is a puzzle. As both a historical researcher and a lifelong genealogist, I've spent time perfecting my ability to connect the dots or put the puzzle together. Writing and analytical skills I've honed throughout my professional life will help me guide students through the process of brainstorming and polishing their college application essays. As an INFJ (Myers-Briggs type), one of my strongest attributes is the ability to actively listen. Listening to my clients and following their lead will always guide my work.
I believe all high-achieving students should have access to the information necessary to find academically-challenging and affordable college options. Wealth and privilege continues to perpetuate inequity in the American higher education system, and I am committed to offering pro bono services to several students each year.
In addition to college access counseling, I'm an attorney specializing in corporate transactional work and a published author of a series of historical romance novels set during World War II. Like many people who make a living through words, I'm a voracious bookworm, happiest in bookstores and libraries. The TV mini-series "Roots" kindled a life-long enthusiasm for genealogy. I'm also a scrapbooker (in fact, I'm a bit of a paper addict). I love to travel and have been fortunate to experience time in many wonderful locations in the US and abroad.
I live in Houston, Texas with my daughter (who started college in fall 2019), my teenage son, and our two feuding cats.
